Forthcoming Mercury Convention

In recent years, mercury pollution has aroused more and more attention in the world. In February 2009, the environmental ministers from around the world agreed, at the 20th Session of UNEP Governing Council, to conduct negotiations on formulation of a legal document for control of mercury pollution in the world. Considering of its importance, FECO set up a special internal working group in 2010, mandated to conduct studies on related policies and technologies, to provide technical support for negotiations, to develop and implement international cooperative projects, and to prepare for mercury convention implementation in China.
